Will my business be able to use a trade waste broker when Commercial Waste Zones go into effect?
Your business is free to use whoever you would like to negotiate rates and you can use a trade waste broker for that purpose. However, under the new rules put into effect by DSNY, your final contract must be directly with an Awardee authorized by the City to service your zone. Brokers are not allowed to bill your business directly for waste removal services and any fees you pay them for their services will have to be separate and apart from your waste and recycling charges.
Who is Mr. T?
Thomas Joseph Toscano, born of immigrant parents in 1926 and the oldest of six children, grew up with his family in Ridgewood, Queens. After serving in the Navy for two years, Tom got a job as a helper on a garbage truck and quickly acquired his own route by the time he was 20. Joined over the next 70 years, by more than 20 family members, the company has grown and prospered to become one of the five largest carting companies operating in New York City. The company’s accomplishments reflect Tom’s original tenacity and his never-ending dream of success. Watch the company history videos.
Would there be an additional charge if the container exceeds the weight limit?
Yes. In the event that the container exceeds the maximum allowable tonnage – regardless of volume/fullness of the container – an extra charge would be added based on the additional dumping costs that Mr. T Carting would incur.
Must I obtain a permit for a container being placed on the street?
Yes, according to the NYC Department of Transportation regulations, a permit is required. We can obtain a permit within minutes via DOT’s online website. There will be an additional fee of $40(+ tax) for a DOT permit good for up to 5 days. If the permit is required for longer than 5 days, it will need to be renewed. Please call our office for details: 718-821-9706 x101.

If I have a small-container for regular service, can I keep it on the sidewalk during the day?
All containers must be pulled inside a corral, your building, or on your property so the containers are not visible from the street. If a container is out on the street or sidewalk past 7:00 am, you take the chance of receiving a summons from DSNY.
