FAQs

Who is Mr.T?

Our founder, Thomas Joseph Toscano, born of immigrant parents in 1926 and the oldest of six children, lived with his family in Ridgewood, Queens. At the age of 14, when his father passed away, Tom learned how to be a survivor in order to provide for his family.

After serving in the Navy for two years, Tom started as a helper on a rubbish route and quickly acquired his own route at the very young age of 20. Over the next 60 years, he was joined by more than 20 family members and the company grew and prospered to become the corporation it is today. All of this can be reflected back to Tom’s original tenacity and never-ending dream of success.

How far in advance must I order a container?

In most instances, 24 hrs. notice is required for container/ dumpster rentals. Emergency service may be obtained the same day, if required.

Would there be an additional charge if the container exceeds the weight limit?

Yes. In the event that the container exceeds the maximum allowable tonnage — regardless of volume/fullness of the container — an extra charge would be added based on the additional dumping costs that Mr. T Carting would incur.

Are there any materials that should not be placed in the container?

Yes, Mr. T Carting is unable to accept any hazardous or special waste (medical and chemical), as well as paint and asbestos.

Must I obtain a permit for a container being placed on the street?

Yes, according to the N.Y.C Department of Transportation regulations, a permit is required. We can obtain a permit within minutes via DOT’s online website. There will be an additional fee of $40(+ tax) for a DOT permit good for up to 5 days. If the permit is required for longer than 5 days, it will need to be renewed. Please call the office for details: 718-821-9706 x101

Do prices vary depending on the material being discarded?

Yes, prices do vary, depending on recyclable materials, construction/rubbish, garbage or traditional household junk. Heavy materials such as concrete and dirt are more costly while roofing material is the most expensive material to dispose of. When calling for service, please specify the type of material being discarded to properly determine pricing.

Our workers take great care to make sure your containers are placed back in their original location with the lids closed. We want our customers to enjoy a hassle-free experience. It’s our job to get dirty, not the customer’s.

If I have a small-container for regular service, can I keep it on the sidewalk during the day?
